Playing Annie at the age of 10 is an experience like no other. Rubbing shoulders with celebrities, signing autographs at stage door, seeing your face plastered over buses and billboards, treading the boards with Australian theatre royalty, playing the lead role in a major musical. These are things budding performers only dream of. For Rachel, it was her reality.
But what happens when the curtain comes down, the spotlight fades and Annie is forced to grow up? How do you compete with the ghost of your former self? At it’s core, Life After Tomorrow is a story about moving on, letting go and growing up. Since playing the role of Annie in 2000, Rachel Marley has been seen on stages all over the world, including Singapore, London and New York. She has also lived multiple other lives behind the scenes as a director, teacher and even a receptionist for one of the world’s leading musical theatre producers! After her very successful run as Amelia in The Credeaux Canvas in 2020, Rachel first premiered Life After Tomorrow at Claire’s Kitchen to great acclaim. Since then, the show has been seen throughout NSW including at the Sydney Fringe last year for a one night only performance where it was then shortlisted for ‘Best Cabaret’ in that season. |
