All cabarets MUST have a CLEAR concept and or themes.
E.g. “[Cabaret] is about how I quit my job and went traveling around Australia, here is what I learnt.” - “[Cabaret] explores the devastating reality of working in hospitality.” - “[Cabaret] is about the life of Stephen Sondheim and his rise to success.” - “[Cabaret] is an exploration of extended music making practices in contemporary Australian music theatre.” - “[Cabaret] is a presentation of songs from my new musical.” etc... All performers must submit their work [a complete first draft at the very least] with their application. Performers may continue to update and redraft their show while continuing to provide festival management with an up-to-date copy of the material. Each show is responsible for it’s own accompanist, rehearsals, sheet music, properties, costumes, etc. The festival will have a default set with stools and set dressing. All participants must attend a technical rehearsal (in venue) a few hours prior to their performance. All technical specifications must be given in a formatted script to the technical operator a minimum of one week prior to the performance. |

*The Venue (Meraki) will take a % of ticket sales across the entire festival until they reach the venue hire/operation cap [$3,400],
assuming all 21 slots are paid for at $100 each then total taken from door sales will not exceed $1,300 across the entirety of the festival's box office. This will not take place in the event total season sales exceed $3,400 wherein Meraki will take 30% of the total box office sales across the festival. |
